Last few weeks has seen many solar powered personal gadgets and the likes being unveiled. Here is a lowdown.

Energizer showed off its Rechargeable Solar Charger. The device will boast a USB port to power an assortment of devices, and it can also be charged from an AC outlet if you just can’t seem to locate the sun. Better still, its weatherproof nature should make it suitable for Robinson Crusoes, and it’ll only run $49.99 with a pair of rechargeable cells when it lands next summer in US.

But if you have an Iphone, just any charger won’t do and though Apple is making claims about making the world’s greenest notebooks, it has’t yet shown a solar cell to go with the Iphone. Solar Arcadia’s solar-powered cases are your next best option. Available in both SideFlip and Leather Flip models, the cases not only offer relatively stout protection for your handset, but they also include a solar panel in order to give your mobile a few more minutes of life while you’re out and about in the sun. Each one is constructed from ABS sheepskin and is available in either red, white or black (Leather Flip is black only) motifs; not too shabby for $45.95 — just don’t expect this thing to dramatically increase your time of use.

While talking on cell phone while driving is not such a good idea, some may find using a blueetooth car handsfree set more acceptable. The Nextar NXBT-001 / NXBT-002 offer 250 hours of standby time / 10 hours of talk time (latter boasting

150 hours of standby time and 6 hours of yappin’ for the NXBT-001). They each soak up the sun while you’re out cruising about in youe Tesla Roadster. The pair will ship for $59.99 / $69.99

So if you want to flaunt your green credentials and haven’t spent all your money on Christmas shopping yet, you now know what to buy!
