Fox News launches green themed website

US cable television channel Fox News has started a green themed website. The site still seems pretty basic till now, even the commenting system is closed, but atleast it’s a start from the Rupert Murdoch owned media company. Give it a spin if you like and let us know what you think!

New York Times had also started something similar few months back.

Boone Pickens, the billionaire US investor’s massive wind farms projects have run into headwinds due to the adverse debt markets conditions, Pickens told the media recently. Pickens says he was originally planning to finance his 4,000-MW wind farm in Texas with 30 percent equity and 70 percent debt financing, but more recently the debt markets have caused a “financial hangup.”

This may threaten the project’s previously planned construction deadline of 2010. Though Pickens says the project will remain on hold until the markets get better, though he is still hopeful that the project can meet the previous construction timeline. Despite any potential delays and scale backs, Pickens is confident that the wind farm will be built. He already placed an order of $2 billion for 667 wind turbines from GE.

Environment films financed by Abu Dhabi

New York Times reports that the state-owned Abu Dhabi Media Company has announced that it will collaborate with National Geographic on as many as 15 movies that address humanity’s relationship with the earth. The films are expected to be produced over the next five years with a total budget of $100 million; each film would cost from $5 million to $60 million.

Abu Dhabi, an emirate that forms a part of UAE, has also spent its oil riches in setting up a museum in collaboration with Louvre (to be opened in 2012) and a Ferrari theme park, with scheduled opening in 2009.
